Asperger’s syndrome in a documentary sponsored by CNR

What is Asperger’s syndrome, how does it manifest itself and how is it dealt with? A recently released documentary entitled “La Sindrome di Asperger” (Asperger’s Syndrome), aims to shed light on this disorder, which affects around one in fifty people, according to international statistics. The documentary is produced by EFC Cinema & Advertising under the patronage of the National Research Council (CNR), Centro Nazionale Contro il Bullismo – Bulli Stop (the Italian national centre against bullying) and Spazio Asperger.

The project was developed with the contribution of CNR researcher Davide Vagni, who was responsible for the scientific direction and also appears in the film – interviewed as an expert – together with Davide Moscone, psychotherapist and president of the non-profit organization Spazio Asperger, and Tony Attwood, a psychologist and university professor in Australia, the world’s leading expert in the field.

The aim of the project is to increase cultural and social awareness of the topic and help people to find their way in the recognition, therapy and empowerment of individuals with this condition. This need has become even more acute since Asperger’s syndrome was included among the Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) in the fifth edition of the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-5).

The documentary is currently available on BeVOD.tv in Italy and on Amazon Prime Video in the United States and the United Kingdom. The translation and subtitles were produced with the contribution of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI).
