Cooperation, University of Pisa and OGS signed an agreement on research and education

The University of Pisa and the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics (OGS) in Trieste have decided to combine efforts to promote, develop and consolidate collaboration opportunities and initiatives in the field of Earth and Marine Sciences by signing a three-year agreement.

“The agreement signed today with the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics is important for our university because it will help strengthen one of the fields of excellence of the University. Today, we have defined a collaboration model whose strength is the interactive and mutual role between the two realities and which extends to research applied to the transfer of knowledge, perspectives and skills in our area,” said Riccardo Zucchi, Rector of the University of Pisa.

By signing this agreement, the two institutions commit to carry out national and international research activities, in order to promote technology development through education until 2027. Under this agreement, scholarships and doctorates will be offered, as well as laboratories and joint initiatives for dissemination activities and support to the third mission.

Also President of OGS, Nicola Casagli, expressed great satisfaction saying that the study of the disciplines included in the agreement is a “strategic sector for the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics. The new collaboration that we have signed with the University of Pisa will allow both institutions to strengthen their roles within the scientific community. Today’s signature comes alongside the recent inauguration of the OGS headquarters in Livorno and the consolidation of our research activities in the Tyrrhenian area.”
