Space, Cnr-Dsctm takes part in the “SpaceItUp” project funded by MUR

The “Space It Up” project, launched in July 2024, aims at promoting innovation and increasing basic knowledge on space, by analyzing numeric models and new mission profiles. The ultimate goal is to ensure a sustainable future through space technology that monitor climate change and promote long-time human staying in extraterrestrial space.

Coordinated by the University of Turin , funded by the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and by the Ministry of University and Research (MUR), the project includes 33 partner universities, research institutes and companies which will work together to promote collaboration and innovation in the space sector.

In particular, the Department of Chemical Sciences and Materials Technologies of the National Research Council (CNR-Dsctm) is involved in Spoke 8 of the project, while the CNR project coordinator is the Engineering, ICT and Technologies for Energy and Transportation Department (CNR-Diitet). The activities will focus on research and development to support future human missions in space, with involvement of the following institutes:

Institute of Condensed Matter Chemistry and Energy Technologies (Cnr-Icmate),

Institute of Science, Technology and Sustainability for Ceramics (Cnr-Issmc),

Institute for Chemical-Physical Processes (Cnr-Ipcf).

In particular, the partners involved will work in 9 research lines: from new missions for the protection and sustainable development of the planet to the design and development of miniaturized sensing systems for satellite missions, from research on the sustainability of human activities to travelling and staying in space and on extraterrestrial celestial bodies (especially the Moon and Mars).
