The European Commission has adopted the first biennial Report on the implementation of the Global Approach to R&I.
The document takes stock of the progress made in the implementation of the EU strategy for international cooperation in research and innovation, with reference to the measures set out in the Communication from the European Commission no. 252 of 2021.
Specifically, the Report focuses on the actions put in place at EU level during the past two years to increase international openness and promote fundamental values in research and innovation, as well as on the joint commitments of the EU and its prioritized partners in order to level the playing field in scientific cooperation.
The Report also pays special attention to the efforts made by the EU towards a just green transition, as well as to the strengthening of research activities in the field of digital technologies. Measures adopted by the European Commission over the past few years include the EU global health strategy and the first state of health preparedness report.
Lastly, the conclusions emphasize that the EU has made significant progress in implementing the actions identified in the Global Approach Communication, while safeguarding its interest and key resources and enhancing its open strategic autonomy.
